SPOKANE, Wash. - Tickets are now on sale for Eastern Washington University's 14th annual Get Lit! Festival! The festival will again feature more than 50 events including: author presentations and readings, writing workshops, panel discussions, poetry slams and writing contests. Most events are free and open to the public. However, tickets are required for the headlining events.

Individual tickets are now available for events featuring Lois Lowry, Jess Walter and Colson Whitehead, Ted Kooser, Susan Orlean and Steve Almond, and Rick Bass and Stellarondo. Each ticket is just $15 for the general public, discounted $5 for military and free for students with a current high school or college ID. Student tickets will be available at college bookstores March 19 through April 5 or at the door as space allows. Please note that the Wednesday, April 11th event with Keith Boykin at Spokane Community College is free and open to the public and that Lois Lowry and The American Place Theatre's Literature to Life Presentation of The Giver on Saturday, April 14, is free to all youth and students.

Get Lit! strives to bring the Spokane community together through the shared experience of literature. Award-winning author and Eastern alumnus Jess Walter says it best: “I love the Get Lit! Festival. Not just because of the big names who come through, or for the regional authors whose work I get to know at the festival, but because it's a week when much of the city seems engaged by literature, a week that always leaves me thinking: this is exactly where I want to live.”

More information about the festival is being updated daily on the Get Lit! Programs website at Check out the latest on, or call Melissa Huggins in the Get Lit! Programs office at 509.359.6977.
