    CHENEY, Wash. - The Eastern Washington University Alumni Association recently recognizd graduates who have made outstanding community contributions and inspired others to great accomplishments at the 2013 EWU Alumni Awards.

    Recipients of the 2013 Alumni Awards represent the most distinguished individuals and organizations. Nominations are reviewed by the EWU Alumni Awards Selection Committee made up of past award winners, EWU faculty, EWU Alumni Association board members and various community members.

    This year we honor these awesome Eagle alumni and friends:

    Lifetime Achievement: Cher Desautel, co-founder and CEO of Desautel Hege Communications. This is the highest honor bestowed by the Alumni Association. It recognizes alumni who have demonstrated a lifetime of service to their community and to EWU.

    Inspirational Young Alumnus: Jason Clerget, co-founder of Dollar Per Month and Propaganda Creative. This award recognizes up-and-coming leaders among EWU's young alumni.

    Alumnus of Service: Lori Wyborney, principal of John Rogers High School. This award recognizes alumni who contribute significantly in the area of educational or community service.

    Distinguished Faculty: Patrick McManus, Professor Emeritus and renowned humorist. This award recognizes an EWU faculty member who is selected by popular vote. This award is presented as the voice of our community to the faculty member (current or past) of their choosing.

    Exceptional Military Service: Maj. Gen. (R) Kenneth Privratsky. This award recognizes an alumnus who contributes significantly through their military service.

    Distinguished Mentor: Melanie Monek, senior professional human resources for Washington Trust Bank. This award recognizes EWU alumni who provide outstanding career and professional mentoring to current Eastern students.

    Organization of Excellence: College Success Foundation. Recipients of this award demonstrate an outstanding dedication to support Eastern in achieving its mission, display enthusiasm and excitement in their support, and are dedicated to enhancing the experience or education of EWU students.
