If this is your first time attending college, let us be the first to tell you: you're going to love it.

Freshmen at EWU tend to fall into three types of student, and you'll want to scroll down to see which category best describes your situation. If you're an undocumented student, be sure to check out 1079 information for Washington state university students, too.

Are you finishing high school, home school or your GED this year?

    How You'll Get Admitted

Are you a Running Start student?

If you participated in the Running Start program while in high school, you still apply to Eastern as a Freshman Applicant. Why? It's all about financial aid. To qualify for full financial aid, you need to be a "freshman" according to the government.

    How You'll Get Admitted

After being admitted, your college transcripts will be evaluated to determine which classes transfer and what class you can take next. To gain a better understanding of what may transfer to EWU, you'll want to start using the Eastern Transfer Guide.

Are You an Adult Learner or Non-Traditional Student?

You're considered an adult student at EWU if you'll be 25 years or older on your first day of classes, and don't have any prior college credits.

    How You'll Get Admitted

Adult learners and non-traditional students typically have unique experiences that don't fit well into formulas or categories. For that reason, your application will be comprehensively reviewed by a panel of EWU Admissions staff. We're happy to talk to about the process and to describe ways you can strengthen your application. Call us at 509.359.2397, email us at admissions@ewu.edu or talk to us via online chat.
