The School of Social Work embraces the mission of Eastern Washington University to expand opportunities for personal transformation through excellence in learning. The School's Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) Programs are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
Eastern Washington University offers a full-time BASW degree that can be completed in two years. Classes are held on the Cheney campus during the first year and both the Cheney and the Riverpoint campus in Spokane during the second year. Social work classes are held during the day in 2-4 hour blocks, and depending on the quarter, are held 2-4 days per week. The core curriculum is not offered in the evening or online. Electives are available in-person during the day on the Cheney campus, in the evening at Riverpoint in Spokane or online.
Field Education (practicum) is three quarters and starts in the fall of the second year. Our practicum placement process is very structured and students do not seek their own placement. We work closely with the student and agency to assure learning goals are met.
We are now accepting applications for the Cheney/Spokane BASW Program which is scheduled to begin Fall 2017.
The priority deadline for all materials to be submitted is March 15, 2017 and based on openings, complete applications must be submitted no later than July 31, 2017. The School of Social Work reserves the right to close admissions at any given time after the March 15 deadline, once the desired number of students have been admitted.
