As part of its continuing commitment to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs, Eastern Washington University and the College of Science, Health and Engineering will again be hosting a regional FIRST Robotics Competitions (FRC) on April 4-6, 2013, at EWU's Reese Court Pavilion. This is organized in collaboration with Greater Spokane Incorporated (GSI) , FIRST Washington and many additional community partners.
FRC features a real-world challenge to be solved by research, critical thinking, construction, teamwork and imagination. It combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Eastern has previously hosted both the annual FIRST LEGO League (FLL) competition with its focus on fourth through eighth grade participants as well as thhe FRC event which provides a bigger stage, a bigger challenge and focuses on high school team participation. The Spokane Regional FRC (hosted at EWU in Cheney) is one of 57 regionals, and one of three on the state of Washington.
To stage this incredible event, more than 100 volunteers will be needed.
EWU and and the College of Science, Health and Engineering are looking forward to host the FRC again in 2013.
