This degree provides students with a strong background in mathematical concepts they will need for teaching mathematics to students in school at secondary grade levels. In addition to gaining a strong understanding of mathematical content, students learn to engage secondary grade level students in hands-on activities that promotes their understanding of difficult concepts.
Completion of this major and the general degree completion requirements for education, secondary, satisfies the state requirements for a state mathematics teaching endorsement (secondary, grade levels 5-12).
