Eastern Washington University's 4-year Biotechnology curriculum is practical and successful. Students work independently in a new, very well equipped laboratory, 10 hours/week, learning from the professor, hybridoma and monoclonal antibody methods and all basic recombinant DNA procedures. They also learn the basics in theory and practice of running fermentors and cell reactors.
Most students complete undergraduate research projects or internships in the biotech centers of the state; Richland, Seattle, Spokane, Medical Lake. All students in this program complete double majors in Biology and Chemistry. All graduates are in demand in research laboratories and receive job offers. This is the oldest Biotechnology bacclaureate degree program in the Western United States.
