             Captain Wyatt C. Ottmar is a native of Moses Lake, Washington. He received his Associate's Degree from Big Bend Community College where he attended flight school and received his private pilots' certificate with a commercial and instrument rating.  He was then commissioned in 2006 from the Reserve Officer Training Corps in Central Washington University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Justice with a specialization in pre-law.

          CPT Ottmar served as a light cavalry platoon leader for Beast Troop, 1st Squadron, 33rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade "Rakkasans," 101st Airborne (AASLT) Division, during the Squadron's 14 month deployment to Baghdad, Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom VII (2007-08). After redeploying with 3rd Brigade, he assumed the role as the Squadron's Assistant Operations Officer for the remained of his assignment with the "Rakkasans." CPT Ottmar was then selected to serve as the Troop Executive Officer for Kilo Troop, 2nd Squadron, 16th Cavalry Regiment at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Upon completion of his Executive Officer assignment, CPT Ottmar attended the Maneuver Captains' Career Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky. After graduating the captains' career course he was immediately placed in command and served 20 months as the headquarters and headquarters troop commander and Apache Troop Commander for 1st Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Armor Brigade, 1st Armor Division. CPT Ottmar was then hand selected to serve as a Small Group Leader at the Maneuver Captains Career Course in Fort Benning, GA to instruct, mentor, and prepare junior captains for the rigors of troop, company or battery command. 

          His awards and decorations include the Ranger tab, Combat Action badge, Parachutist badge, Bronze Star Medal , Meritorious Service Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
