Linda Moody was born and raised in Wisconsin. When she was 17, she enlisted into the United States Marine Corps and went to boot camp upon completion of her senior year in high school in 1998. While in the Marine Corps Linda served as a Motor Transport Mechanic for the first 5.5 years during which she deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. Linda then switched her job to become an Avionics Technician on Harrier jets for the next 6 years of her time as a Marine. During her time in the Harrier community, she deployed once again in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007. She also deployed aboard the USS Essex for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit where she got to go to Japan, Thailand, the Philippines, and Australia in 2009. Upon return from the ship she went to school to become a Marine Corps recruiter and completed her last 4 years in Spokane, Washington as a Marine Corps recruiter and the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) Marine Liaison. Linda was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in December 2013 and was hired in May 2014 to perform as the Human Resources Technician for the Department of Military Science at Eastern Washington University.
