Janis Battan is a full time special faculty lecturer who teaches the Introduction to Occupational Therapy class and Gerontology sections of the curriculum. She is also one of two Academic Fieldwork Coordinators for Level I and II Fieldworks. Her interests and expertise are in gerontology including Aging in Place, Adult and Geriatric Rehabilitation Leadership, Management and Supervision, and Cognition and Perception. Ms. Battan is an active AOTA and WOTA member serving this year as President and Executive Board Member for WOTA. She has been a practicing occupational therapist for the past 35 years with experience in mainly gerontology. Ms. Battan received her BS in occupational therapy from the University of Washington and her Master's of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University in 2000. Her leisure interests include camping, boating, cross country skiing, and reading.
