Larry Kee started his professional music career at the age of eight, as the lead coloratura soprano of the international touring concert group of The Texas Boys Choir. He was tapped by pop singer Pat Boone to sing soprano backups on several of his 45-rpm records in 1958-59, and fell in love with recording studios. While in high school, Larry played French horn on rock sessions in L.A. studios (ala 'Baby the Rain Must Fall'), and continued later on piano and Hammond B-3 organ, doing spec and jingles sessions. Larry has played live or recorded with The Eric Burden Band, Jim Morrison, Jimmy Witherspoon, Robben Ford, Azar Lawrence, The Inkspots Review (player/director), Shaky Jake Harris with John Mayall, Savoy Brown, Marshal Hooks Blues All-Stars, The Diamonds, Charles Lloyd, and others; and played in bands that opened concert shows for Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, The Steve Miller Band, and Big Brother & the Holding Co. Larry produced an award-winning and best-selling album for classical concert pianist John McIntyre, in 1974, and the popular "Jazz Tracks" CD for The Lindsay Jazz Family in 2010. He has operated Keynote Studios, a teaching and recording studio, in the Seattle area, since 1996. Larry received a B.A. in Music Production from W.W.U.'s Fairhaven College in 1976; a Professional Certificate in Recording Engineering in 1975 from Sherwood Oaks College, where he interned at M.C.A. Records Studios at Universal City; and in June, 2013, completed an M.A. in Music/Jazz Pedagogy at E.W.U., where he graduated with honors and election to Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Larry was the recipient of the Carol Joy Graduate Music Scholarship and the Delores Gibler Music Scholarship for 2012-13.
