EWU Symphony Orchestra: The EWU Symphony Orchestra is open to both music majors and qualified non-majors. Faculty, staff, and community members who wish to participate in a challenging orchestral experience are also welcome. The orchestra meets Mondays (strings only), Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 12:00 - 1:50. For students with class conflicts, there is some flexibility with regards to rehearsal attendance. Performances occur at the end of each quarter in EWU's beautiful Showalter Auditorium.
The mission of the EWU Symphony Orchestra is to learn and perform a wide variety of classical music from the vast symphonic repertoire. This includes music for strings, full orchestra, and orchestra/chorus. In addition to studying music of the great western tradition, the EWU Symphony also performs contemporary repertoire and music of Latin American composers. The members and director of the orchestra share the same goal in rehearsal and performance: to achieve the highest possible degree of learning, performance and enjoyment. Students will experience new repertoire, improve their musicianship, and enhance their ensemble skills. Many of the professors in the Department of Music are also members of the Spokane Symphony Orchestra. Please contact Dr. Julian Gomez (firstname.lastname@example.org or 359-2300) for more information regarding the EWU Symphony Orchestra.
