SYMPHONIC CHOIR & COLLEGIANS AUDITION INFORMATION AND MATERIALS
Audition materials for the auditioned choirs are now available here online. They will also be available in front of Kristina's office (Rm 252 in the Music Building) on Friday, September 19th. All ensembles have a $10 fee each quarter. Auditions are held the first week during the class time for that ensemble.
Auditions for Symphonic Choir begin on Wednesday, September 24th, 3-3:50 and continue through Friday. Students purchase packets of music from the bookstore for Symphonic and Concert Choirs which range from $12-30 depending upon the literature that quarter. Also, this year Symphonic Choir will be traveling to Limerick, Ireland for a Spokane Sister City Celebration, Collaboration with the University of Limerick, and International Choral Festival which will cost $2,600 and require a year long commitment.
The audition for Collegians (the auditioned small vocal jazz group) is Friday, September 26th,1-2:50. This is the vocal group who traveled last year to California, so this year their tour will be more local and not likely to exceed $200.

The 46-voice Symphonic Choir is the premier touring concert choir at Eastern. Membership is by audition and students who are selected are expected to commit to a full year of participation. Although auditions are open to all enrolled students at EWU, the majority of members are upperclassmen music majors and minors. The group performs choral concerts each quarter on campus and tours every spring. The Symphonic Choir also collaborates with the EWU Orchestra to present standard choral/orchestral works as well as repertoire of varying styles by composers new and old.
The 12-voice Collegians is the most versatile choral ensemble on campus. The focus of the Collegians is to develop a wide range of repertoire that is suitable for both concertizing and entertainment. Members are selected by audition. Although auditions are open to all enrolled EWU students, the majority of members are music majors and minors who are willing to commit to a full year of membership.
Because of the portability of this ensemble, runout concerts are scheduled each quarter, and the members of this ensemble must have flexible schedules to allow them to perform often. Student are required to provide their own formal wear/concert attire. Performances include the quarterly choral concerts on campus, educational outreach concerts, entertainment/banquet performances, and a yearly tour. Past tours have included Italy and regional appearances throughout the Pacific Northwest.
