Our mission is to prepare student-centered teachers and leaders who are caring, effective, informed, reflective graduates who successfully engage all learners in diverse schools, communities and global contexts.
The Early Childhood Education (ECE) program consists of an academic major in ECE and a sequence of professional certification courses that lead to a P-3 (PreK-third grade) teacher licensure . Completion of the P-3 program or elementary education will enable candidates to work in Head Start , ECEAP, blended preschools, kindergartens, and primary grades in the public schools. The course work offers a combination of theory, methods, and field experiences in a variety of early childhood education settings.
Upon admission to the Early Childhood Education program students are required to declare a major (ECE) and an approved minor. The major leads to an ECE endorsement which enhances a teaching career working with young children.
