Abstract: Multiple Intelligence
Mentor: Dr. Jeffrey Stafford, Communication Studies
My primary focus for this presentation will be based on the theory of Multiple Intelligence (MI), fashioned by
Howard Gardner, a professor of education and cognition at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. I will
explore Gardner's eight intelligences in order to examine the different learning approaches and how they impact
children as well as educators in our schools. According to Gardner, Multiple Intelligence suggests that the
traditional notion of interest based on I.Q. testing, is far too limited. He states that our schools and culture focus
mostly on linguistic and logical math interests, which limits the ability to explore other intelligences.
