    McNair Scholar Program Facts at a Glance

    Since 1995, the McNair Scholar Program has served 235 participants (currently 29 participants per year). Of these participants, 191 were low income, 207 were first generation college students, 170 were of underrepresented populations in higher education, and 172 were both low income and first generation. Eleven participants have earned a PhD, 93 have earned a Master’s degree, and 63 prior participants are currently enrolled in graduate education. Of the 13 participants who earned baccalaureates in 2011-2012, within three years of program selection, 12 participants (92%) have been admitted and will enroll in graduate education for Fall 2012.     •    $23,000 annual stipend McNair Graduate Fellowship (4 years of support with a tuition waiver and individual health insurance) at Florida International University, in Global and Sociocultural Studies, doctoral program
    •    $26,800 stipend for a minimum of five years and tuition waiver at University of California, Davis in Molecular, Cellular and Integrative Physiology, doctoral program
    •    $28, 000 stipend and tuition waiver for Research Assistantship at University of Washington in Chemistry, doctoral program
    •    Tuition waiver and stipend for Teaching Assistantship at Univeristy of Washington in Geography, doctoral program
    •    Three Students obtained tuition waiver and stipend for Teaching Assistantship at Washington State University in Counseling Psychology, doctoral program
