Associated Press Election Center / Student Experience
Every other year since 2000 the Associated Press has chosen EWU as the site for its Western U.S. Election Center, where it gathers the General Election returns from about half of the United States. The AP will be setting up a special electronic call-in center and hiring EWU students to staff it the night of the 2016 General Election on November 8th. The Associated Press is now accepting student applicants for Vote Entry Clerk positions to staff the Center election night, November 8th. Students will be paid $12.50/hour for all work performed, including attending two short training sessions: the first from 5 pm - 8 pm on Wednesday, November 2nd, and the second from 9 am - 12 pm on Saturday, November 5th, as well as working the night of the election. AP will also feed students on election night! The work is simple and engaging, and lets students earn good money while being part of an important civic event. AP greatly prizes its relationship with Eastern; EWU is the only college or university in the nation to have this connection with AP. If you are interested, please contact Steve Blewett, Emeritus Professor of Journalism and former director of the Journalism Program at EWU. You can email him at firstname.lastname@example.org and he will provide you with the information you need to register and be hired.
