An important message from the university to the campus community:
More power outages are scheduled on campus.
We would like to apologized for the changes made to the campus power shutdown wednesday, Sept. 12.. Addition electrical testing was required, before the buildings scheduled in the morning, could be brought back into service. This pushed the schedule for the second half of the shutdown past a reasonable time to complete by the end of the day.
We will need to reschedule the second half shutdown for Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 1-6 p.m. The building affected are listed below.
Affected buildings and offices will be offline and will be closed, depending on operational needs, for the period of the shutdown. All these buildings have back up emergency power for fire alarms and emergency lighting but normal power for other services will not be available (lighting, computers, wireless access, heating/cooling, elevators, etc.). This shut down may require modification of staff schedules and supervisors should work with employees to determine the best option in adherence with Eastern's Collective Bargaining Agreement. Work options including working remote from home, alternative work schedules or the use of compensatory time, vacation leave or a personal holiday. Telephones in affected building will not be operational but auto attendant (voice mail) will be available to notify incoming callers of the outage.
Staff contacts for this event are the following:
Mike Davis, Construction Project Manager Supervisor, Construction and Planning
Troy Bester, Senior Project Manager, Construction and Planning
Shawn King, Associate Vice President for Facilities and Planning
