CHENEY, Wash. - Eastern Washington University's Office of Alumni Advancement is excited to announce the release of the latest edition of the EWU Eagle License Plates, this one coming with a tribute to Eastern's historic national championship in football.
The new design includes the popular EWU Eagle logo featured on the previous series, with silhouettes of cheering fans in the background and the words National Champions inscribed in red on the bottom.
The new Eagle design is more than just a celebration of the national championship, as $28 of each $30 specialized plate fee will go toward scholarships for EWU students.
"EWU specialty plates are a win-win!" said Lisa Poplawski, director of the office of Alumni Advancement at Eastern. "As our national champion football coach Beau Baldwin likes to say, ‘why wouldn't we' want to show off our Eagle pride and help EWU students succeed at the same time."
To date, approximately $250,000 has been raised for student scholarships through the EWU license plate program. Over the past year alone, 38 scholarships have been awarded as a result of the EWU collegiate plate.
