CHENEY, Wash. - Eastern Washington University President Rodolfo Arévalo is issuing the following statement in light of the Gov. Gregoire's recent budget proposal and the special legislative session which begins Monday, Nov. 28.
"Eastern Washington University understands that more budget cuts need to be made given the shrinking financial resources the state of Washington is trying to manage. The proposed 17 percent reduction to our current operating budget would significantly impact Eastern's ability to provide a quality education to our students. EWU appreciates the governor's willingness to propose a revenue generating package that would mitigate these cuts. I am supportive of the efforts of the governor, and the Legislature, as they work together to find funding sources that would benefit our students."
